Did we turn into a Disney movie or something?

carrielancaster:

Right, the Norse myths! They never quite caught on with me like the Greek and Roman ones, but I always did enjoy reading them. I enjoy all sorts of stories in the fantasy genre, though. Have you read Lord of the Rings?

The Greek and Roman myths are very interesting, though. Lord of The Rings? Well, I sort of have. I always pick up the first book but never finish it, which is weird because I liked the movies.

carrielancaster:

I know. You’ve read them all too, then? I’m impressed. I went through a strange obsession with fairytales when I was around fourteen. The real ones, though, not the bullshit ones adults want us all to believe were the original. That and Greek Mythology. I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to them.

I found the original versions by mistake and read them out of boredom. I used to have a lot of free time and now even more so. I really like Greek mythology. And the Norse myths, too! I used to have a dog named Heimdallr.

Mmm…good point but…why would you ruin what people want to believe in? A-Are you that unhappy?

For no special reason. And no, I’m not unhappy. I say the things I want to say, do the things I want to do and live the sort of life I like to lead. Sounds like happiness to me.

carrielancaster:

Yes, but it’s amazing what girls back then would do for money and power. Even nowadays. Course, didn’t work out for them in the end. They just ended up with a pair of toeless, bloody feet.

And blind, too. At the end they got attacked by a group of birds during Cinderella’s wedding. Which is funny,in a sort of morbid way. “You don’t get to follow Cinderella aroun, nor watch her be happy!”.

You know what? Who cares. I don’t expect to get a true love kiss or any happily ever after anyway. It’s overrated.

That’s the attitude!

carrielancaster:

Mhm, not a problem. You know that the stepsisters in Cinderella chopped their toes off in order to fit into the glass slipper, yeah?

Yes. It was a little drastic, in my opinion.

personnalite-evitante:

Why would Disney lie to little kids?

Because they needed material to work with and since all the stories are very tragic they just changed the endings.

Disney Endings Vs Original Endings

gengaruseddreameater:

I thought I’d do some research and compare the Disney versions of classic fairy tales to how they were originally written. Just a warning, most of them are either disturbing or mega depressing.
